Continuing Professional Development / Summer School
Manufactured nanoparticles and nanomaterials offer many potential socio-economic, health and environmental benefits as a result of novel properties and behaviour that materials can exhibit when manufactured at the nanoscale. While the production of nanomaterials is undergoing exponential growth, their biological effects and environmental fate and behaviour are relatively unknown. This two day course is designed for those with interests in human and environmental health implications of nanoparticles and is recommended for PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and those in industry and government involved with nanoparticles.
Themes
Course Organiser
This course is organised through the NERC sponsored Knowledge Transfer Network (Nanonet) and the NERC Facility for Environmental Nanoparticle Analysis and Characterisation (FENAC) by Professor Jamie Lead, Professor Environmental Nanosciences, Nanonet head and Director of FENAC.
The two day course will consist of both lectures form a number of world leading specialist speakers and a hands-on tour of the laboratories for physical, chemical and biological analysis of the environmental effects and behaviour of nanoparticles.
Audience
The summer school/CPD course is designed for those working with nanoparticles in any way including their development, their use, their disposal and their environmental effects. The course will be of interest to those working in industry, government and academia.
